The Carson City Mustang got a superb performance from pitcher Iemitsu Shiroi. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Cincinnati. The Snaps won the game, 2-1. In spite of the loss, Shiroi was named the player of the game. He threw 8 innings of 6-hit ball. Cincinnati reliever David Williams was the winner. His record is now 1-0. The losing pitcher was Iemitsu Shiroi. Shinji Makino converted his 13th save in 18 tries.
Greg Bova aided the Cincinnati cause with a solo home run in the bottom of the seventh. For the game, the right fielder was 1 for 3 with a home run.
Afterward, Snaps manager António Álvarez was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
Even with the win, the Snaps have a dismal 19-40 record.
