Pioneers Roll Toreros, 6-4

The Vancouver Pioneers trumped the Cabo San Lucas Toreros, 6-4, at Field de Los Layendas. Vancouver right fielder Hiroya Shimada was named player of the game for his performance. He was 3-4 with a triple and a double. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2. Kenko Samurakami got credit for the win, improving to 3-4. He allowed 3 runs on 7 hits in 8 innings. Picking up the save was Todd Couch, his 2nd.
With Vancouver leading 1-0 in the top of the second, Shimada hit a curveball from Luis Contreras for a 2-run triple. It was his 4th triple of the season and put the Pioneers ahead, 3-0.
"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Shimada.
The Pioneers raised their record to 16-22.
