Hackers Pull Off Thrilling Win in Extras
|
The Silicon Valley Hackers downed the Youngstown Tune-Ups, 5-2, at Joey Naples Memorial Colloseum. The Hackers were led by Lance Vallery, who captured player of the game honors. He went 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Silicon Valley reliever Luis García picked up the win, upping his record to 4-1. Keisaburo Kanada took the loss. Silicon Valley leads the Cory Lidle League Lou Piniella League by 2 games.
The Hackers got a big at-bat from second baseman John Berdahl. For the game, Berdahl was 1-4 with a walk. In the top of the 11th, with the bases loaded, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 28th hit of the season gave Silicon Valley a 3-2 lead.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Vallery. "And not try to do too much."
