Clayton Slugs Mafia to 7-0 Win
|
The rain at Skellington Stadium did not keep New York and Jacksonville from finishing their game.
Riding the 3-hit performance of the former first round draft pick Skip Clayton, the New York Mafia stopped the Jacksonville Jacks, 7-0. Lorenzo Soto earned the win for New York. He lasted 8 innings, allowing no earned runs on 8 hits, while striking out 1. With the win, he raised his record to 2-4.
Ricardo Corte aided the New York cause with a 2-run double in the top of the third. For the game, the catcher went 1-4 with a double. He drove in 2 runs.
In postgame comments to the New York Chronicle, Clayton said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
Even with the win, the Mafia have a dismal 14-26 record.
