Shamrocks Solve Jail Birds, 6-2

Pacifica Shamrocks starter Owen Kay turned in a top-notch performance against the Newark Jail Birds at McCormick Field. The result was a win for the Shamrocks, 6-2. Kay, now 4-0, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 2 hits, while striking out 6, walking 2, and allowing 1 earned run. Mudasser Sabzvari picked up the save for Pacifica, his 11th of the year.
Barry Huffman had a big 2-run single for the Shamrocks in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Pacifica leading 2-1 and the bases loaded, he got a forkball from Fabio de Kroon and stroked the single to left. It was his 73rd hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Shamrocks ahead, 4-1.
"Good baseball players make you a smarter manager," said Pacifica manager Joe Leftwich.
Pacifica leads the Cory Lidle League Gene Mauch Division by 4˝ games.
