The Rock River Rats topped the Sandy Springs Spartans, 6-4, with left fielder Harry May playing a big role. May was 3 for 5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2 for the Rats in the win. Rock River reliever Hima Chinnappan picked up the win to move to 1-0. Takuya Funaki suffered the loss. The Rats bumped their record to 27-24 with this latest triumph.

May had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the tenth. On a 2-2 cutter from Takuya Funaki, he banged a 2-run home run to right, giving the Rats a 6-4 lead. It was the 6th home run of the year for May.

"I'm trying to keep it simple," said May. "Just do my job."
