Both teams had their chances, but the DeKalb Cornhuskers eventually prevailed at The Corn Crib.

The inspired effort of Long Island shortstop Jim Willard was not enough to prevent a 4-3 loss to the DeKalb Cornhuskers. Willard was 2-3 with a triple and 2 walks. The Cornhuskers bumped their record to 31-21 with this latest triumph.

Bailey Povey aided the DeKalb cause with a run-scoring walk in the bottom of the second. For the game, the catcher went 1-3 with a double and 2 walks.

"We made a couple of mistakes," said Long Island skipper Elvis Callahan, "and it cost us."
