Victory Pushes Spartans Record to 26-23
|
Boise got a terrific game from center fielder Pete Freeman. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Sandy Springs, 7-3. Freeman was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He went 3-5 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Sandy Springs has now won 3 straight, while the Hawks have lost 5 in a row.
The Spartans got a big at-bat from catcher Thomas Bernard. For the game, Bernard went 1 for 4 with a double, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the top of the first, with the bases loaded, he stroked a bases-clearing double. His 11th double of the season gave Sandy Springs a 3-0 lead.
