Red Bulls Prevail, 3-1, Over DeKalb
|
The Riverside Red Bulls defeated the DeKalb Cornhuskers, 3-1. Earning player of the game honors was catcher Jim Kempenaars, who went 1-1 with 3 walks. The win was credited to Jay Retter in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Adrián García took the loss. Lien-ying Mar closed the door for Riverside, picking up his 9th save of the year.
Kempenaars had a big at-bat with the bases loaded in the bottom of the second inning, when he drew a walk, driving in 1 run. The Red Bulls went on to win.
"It feels good to get this one," Kempenaars told the Riverside Times.
The Red Bulls now have a record of 24-26 with the win over DeKalb.
