Rodríguez Helps Newark Cruise to 10-3 Win
The Newark Jail Birds knocked off the Rock River Rats, 10-3, at The Rat Hole. Albert Rodríguez, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Newark won. The shortstop went 1-2 with a double and 3 walks, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 4. Newark goes to 20-27, Rock River to 22-23.

The Jail Birds got a big at-bat from designated hitter Sofronio Oxinos. For the game, Oxinos was 2-4 with 2 singles and a walk, while adding 2 RBI. In the top of the fourth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 10th hit of the season gave Newark a 1-0 lead.

"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Rodríguez told a Newark Chronicle reporter. "Sometimes we need just to relax."
