Marysville beat Long Island on the strength of starter Vincente Cerni's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a 4-1 win. Earning his 11th save for Marysville was Barry Sherman. The Monarchs bumped their record to 27-18 with this latest triumph.
A crucial at-bat came with a runner on 2nd and one out in the top of the eighth inning. That's when right fielder Cristián Rojas drew a walk. The Monarchs went on to win.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Cerni told the Marysville Herald.
