Victory Pushes Mustang Record to 21-20
|
The San Antonio Storm Troopers got a superb performance from catcher Peter Southern, but the Carson City Mustang still won the game, 5-4. Southern was named the player of the game despite the loss. He went 2-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Kaong Foong picked up the win with 7 innings of work. He allowed 4 earned runs on 7 hits, while walking 3 and striking out 7. On the season, he is now 5-2. The Mustang, now at 21-20, know that wins in May count the same as wins in September.
José González, who is tied for 10th in the FFL in triples with 2, aided the Carson City cause with a 2-run single in the bottom of the third. For the game, the third baseman was 1 for 3 with a walk. He drove in 2 runs.
"You can't take yourself too seriously," González told the Carson City Today. "But at the end of the day, we do play to win ballgames."
