Victory Over Jail Birds Takes Pacifica to 27-11
|
The Pacifica Shamrocks downed the Newark Jail Birds, 7-4, at McCormick Field. The Shamrocks were led by Josh Bowmer, who captured player of the game honors. He went 2 for 4 with 2 singles and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Frank Hillier earned the win for Pacifica. He lasted 6.2 innings, allowing 4 earned runs on 6 hits, while striking out 5. With the win, he raised his record to 4-2. Mudasser Sabzvari closed it out for his 8th save.
With Pacifica trailing 3-0 in the bottom of the first, Bowmer hit a changeup from Ernesto Trevino for a 2-run single. It was his 13th hit of the season and put the Shamrocks ahead, 3-2.
"I believe in our guys," said Pacifica skipper Joe Leftwich. "I like the energy they're playing with."
Pacifica has an impressive 27-11 record.
