Ducks Win at DeKalb, 8-5
|
DeKalb first baseman Luis Elías was sensational. He was 2-2 with a home run and 2 walks, but it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Long Island beat the Cornhuskers, 8-5. Elías was named the player of the game despite the loss. Stuart Organ earned the win for Long Island. He lasted 6.1 innings, allowing 5 earned runs on 7 hits, while striking out 3. With the win, he raised his record to 2-0. Takamasa Oki closed it out for his 7th save.
Long Island needed the clutch hitting of Ken Cashmann to notch the win. The first baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Ducks on top, 8-5. For the game, Cashmann had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"We maximized our offense today," said Long Island skipper Elvis Callahan. "That makes everyone's life easier."
Long Island, at 17-21, occupies last place in the Bob Moose League Bruce Bochy Division.
