Predators Bang Out 7-4 Win Versus Wichita
|
Wichita got a terrific performance from first baseman Willis Pierce, but it wasn't enough to beat the Topeka Predators. Topeka won the The Field at Richmond contest, 7-4. Pierce was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He was 4-5 with a double and 3 singles, while adding 3 RBI. Ross Batstone nailed down his 5th save. Topeka, now 16-17, holds second place in the Bob Moose League Jim Leyland Division.
The Predators got a big at-bat from second baseman Dave Fennelly. For the game, Fennelly went 2 for 3 with 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the second, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run single. His 19th hit of the season gave Topeka a 3-2 lead.
"We'll relax tonight and enjoy this win," said Fennelly.
