Fans who gathered at McCormick Field saw a good contest between the Marysville Monarchs and Pacifica Shamrocks.

The Marysville Monarchs did just enough to secure a 4-3 victory over the Pacifica Shamrocks at McCormick Field. Nobody did more than pitcher Jonathan Burton, who captured player of the game honors. Burton, now 1-0, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 1, walking 3, and allowing 2 earned runs. Barry Sherman, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 8th save.

Tim Beeman, who is tied for 9th in the ACL with a .350 batting average, aided the Marysville cause with a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh. For the game, the left fielder went 2-5 with 2 singles.

"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Beeman said after the game.

The Monarchs, now 22-8, have played some good baseball in the early going.
