Victory Pushes Marauders Record to 25-10
|
The Maple Marauders downed the Cabo San Lucas Toreros, 7-3, at Field de Los Layendas. The Marauders were led by Alejandro Marés, who captured player of the game honors. He went 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Paul Barrett got the win, improving to 4-1. He held the Toreros to 3 earned runs on 6 hits over 7.1 innings, while striking out 3 and walking 2. The Marauders bumped their record to 25-10 with this latest triumph.
Gerard Leeder, who is on pace for 116 RBI this season, aided the Maple cause with a 2-run double in the top of the seventh. For the game, the second baseman was 1-3 with a double and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
Leeder called the win "a collective effort."
