Bulldogs Win Streak Now at 8
|
Spokane got a strong outing from Tom Bennett as the Bulldogs defeated the Jacksonville Hellcats, 5-1, at Hellcats Park. Bennett, the winner, moves to 1-1. He threw 7 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 6 and giving up 5 walks. Javier González closed it out for his 2nd save.
The Bulldogs got a big at-bat from left fielder Vicente Gonzáles. For the game, Gonzáles was 1-4 with a double and a walk. In the top of the third, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 1st double of the season gave Spokane a 1-0 lead.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Gonzáles. "And not try to do too much."
The Hellcats drop to 9-17 and continue their inconsistent start to the 2033 season.
