The San Francisco Earthquakes racked up a win at "The Fort" at B.C. Place, bumping off the Vancouver Pioneers, 3-2. Donkal Ubriani, who started for San Francisco, pitched effectively for his team. Ubriani got the win, improving to 2-1. He allowed 6 hits and walked 1 over 7 innings. Ubriani allowed 2 earned runs. Eddie Rosado picked up the save, his 8th.
Had Juan López not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases empty, López hit a solo home run. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Earthquakes.
"Both teams played hard," said San Francisco manager Joe Ward.
The Earthquakes improve their record to 14-21 with the win over Vancouver.
