The So Cal Republic picked up a win at House of the Republic, knocking off the Portland Beavers, 5-4. Starting pitcher Elias Bowen played a key role in the triumph. Losses have been few and far between for the Beavers so far this season. Their record drops to 3-1.
The Republic got a big at-bat from pinch hitter Jorge Martínez. For the game, Martínez was 1-1. In the bottom of the seventh, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 1st hit of the season gave So Cal a 5-4 lead.
"We've got guys willing to do what it takes to win," Martínez told the So Cal Times.
