Lights Win in Glorious Fashion
|
Marysville got a terrific performance from first baseman Tim Hinson, but it wasn't enough to beat the Phoenix Lights. Phoenix won the UFO Field contest, 6-5. Hinson was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He went 1-1 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Phoenix reliever José Castro picked up the win to move to 2-0. Curt Woods suffered the loss. Losses have been few and far between for the Monarchs, who are now 11-3.
The Lights got a big at-bat from catcher Juan Archuleta. For the game, Archuleta went 1-6 with a double and a walk. In the bottom of the 13th, with the bases loaded, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 4th double of the season gave Phoenix a 6-5 lead.
"We need to get rid of the bad mojo," said Archuleta. "Maybe this win will help."
