Hawks Topple Hackers as Nakamura Shines
|
The Boise Hawks defeated the Silicon Valley Hackers, 8-6, at Basque Block Field. Boise right fielder Daiki Nakamura was named player of the game for his superb performance. He was 4-5 with a home run and 3 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Boise reliever Chuck Easton picked up the win to move to 1-0. Ricardo Betancourt suffered the loss. The Hackers fall to 6-9 and continue their wobbly start to the 2033 season.
Had Joe Coleman not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Coleman hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 7-6, in favor of the Hawks.
"I was able to barrel up some pitches," said Nakamura.
