Tight Tilt Goes to Hellcats, 2-1
|
The Hellcats grabbed a win, 2-1, at Joey Naples Memorial Colloseum, overcoming a fine effort from Youngstown pitcher Luis Vásquez. Vásquez went 7 innings and allowed 1 earned run. Bruce Berardi earned save number 2. Jacksonville, now 3-5, is off to a slow start.
The Hellcats got a big at-bat from center fielder Jimmy Wynn. For the game, Wynn was 1-3 with a double and a walk. In the top of the ninth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 3rd double of the season gave Jacksonville a 2-1 lead.
Wynn told the Jacksonville Gazette: "I don't know which I enjoy more -- being a ballplayer or the perks that come with being a ballplayer."
