Boise pitcher Mauro Vázquez did his part in helping his team beat the Frisco Rams, 1-0. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Andy Ryan got credit for the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1 innings. Boise, now 3-2, has gotten their season off to a good start.

The game was at a stalemate until center fielder Umito Kono came to bat in the bottom of the 11th. Facing Frisco pitcher José Trevino, he hit a full count sinker for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Boise on top, 1-0.

"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Kono.
