Monarchs Roll Shamrocks, 8-7
|
Despite a fine performance by first baseman John Pinnock, the Pacifica Shamrocks suffered a 8-7 loss to the Marysville Monarchs. Pinnock was 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. Joel Scoley got credit for the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 1.2 innings. Marysville, at 4-1, has sizzled in the early going.
The Monarchs got a big at-bat from designated hitter Frank Nicholson. For the game, Nicholson was 1-5 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the top of the first, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 2nd home run of the season gave Marysville a 2-0 lead.
"We maximized our offense today," said Marysville skipper Jorge Magana. "That makes everyone's life easier."
