DeKalb left fielder Gerardo Zapata was instrumental in his team's 11-9 win over the Rock River Rats. Zapata went 2-2 with 2 runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Cornhuskers. DeKalb reliever Steve Gould picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. José Mendoza absorbed the loss. Adam Stickells earned his 1st save in 1 tries.

Luis Ricciardi aided the DeKalb cause with a run-scoring walk in the top of the fourth. For the game, the third baseman was 1-2 with 4 walks, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.

"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Ricciardi said after the game.

The win takes DeKalb to 1-1.
