Spartans Sneak Past Bulldogs, 2-1

Crowds lined up early in front of The Coliseum, eagerly awaiting the start of the 2033 DOUBLE A season. On the mound was António Días for the visiting Spokane Bulldogs and Shumei Bailey for the hometown Sandy Springs Spartans. In a spirited contest, the Spartans pulled out the win, defeating the Bulldogs by the score of 2-1. Earning player of the game honors was António Días. Miguel Rodríguez, credited with the win, is now 1-0. He allowed no runs on no hits in 0.2 innings.
The Spartans used some clutch hitting to beat the Bulldogs, a good example being the at-bat of Shoji Hosokawa in the bottom of the tenth. With two down, Hosokawa gave his team the lead, 2-1, when he hit a walk-off run-scoring double.
"Great to get the crowd on its feet," Hosokawa said.
