Baba 3-3, Leads Beavers to Win
|
The Portland Beavers downed the So Cal Republic, 6-0, at Waterfront Park. Motoyasu Baba led the way, going 3-for-3 for Portland. Pedro Pérez earned the win for Portland. He lasted 5 innings, allowing no earned runs on 5 hits, while striking out 1. With the win, he raised his record to 3-1. Their 15-19 record puts the Beavers 4th in the Roberto Clemente League Christian Latulippe Division.
With Portland leading 1-0 in the bottom of the third, Baba hit a cutter from Elias Bowen for a run-scoring double. It was his 6th double of the season and put the Beavers ahead, 2-0.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Baba, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
