Canadians Stymie Coronado, Take 4-1 Win
|
The Vancouver Canadians topped the Coronado Phantoms, 4-1, in Nick Adenhart League action at Stanley Park. The player of the game was Vancouver pitcher and Guatemala native Javier Ballina. Vancouver reliever Eddie MacClung was the winner. His record is now 5-2. The losing pitcher was Fu-po Eng. The Canadians, now 83-76, have won 4 in a row.
The Canadians got a big at-bat from shortstop Phil Kinch. For the game, Kinch was 2 for 4 with a double. In the bottom of the seventh, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 86th hit of the season gave Vancouver a 2-1 lead.
"Javier is tough when he's hitting his spots," said Vancouver manager Arinori Nakamura.
