The Racers faced a stiff challenge from Fairfield pitcher Yeong-suk Kim, but persevered to claim a win at Top of the Hill. The final score was 4-3. Kim went 5 innings and allowed 1 earned run. Bowling Green reliever Joël Barbier picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Jamie Newitt shouldered the loss. Bowling Green now has a 4-game win streak.
The Racers got a big at-bat from center fielder Tim Beeman. For the game, Beeman was 1 for 4. In the bottom of the eighth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 15th hit of the season gave Bowling Green a 4-3 lead.
"Good pitching, clutch hitting," said Bowling Green skipper Walt Dobson. "I can't complain."
