Raiders Pull Back to .500 With Win Over Fireballs
|
The Reno Raiders topped the Joplin Fireballs by the score of 5-2, with the largest share of the credit going to first baseman Matsudaira Sato. Sato went 2-4 with 2 home runs for the Raiders. Eduardo Marino was the winning pitcher. Over 8 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 10 hits, with 2 walks and 5 strikeouts. The 4th-place Raiders now have a 5-game winning streak.
Sato had a game-changing home run in the top of the sixth. On a full count fastball from Bob Brown, he banged a solo home run to left, giving the Raiders a 3-2 lead. It was the 14th home run of the year for Sato.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Sato. "And not try to do too much."
