Paczkis Score Late, Upend Phantoms, 6-5
|
Coronado got a terrific performance from third baseman Jamie DeWoody, but it wasn't enough to beat the Canton Paczkis. Canton won the Mckinley Park contest, 6-5. DeWoody was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. Koshiro Ohayashi notched his 5th save in 10 chances. The win boosts the Paczkis to 74-81. The loss puts the Phantoms at 64-91.
Enreecko Jocson chipped in for Canton with a 3-run home run in the bottom of the eighth. For the game, the designated hitter had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 2 runs scored, and 3 runs batted in.
"We'll savor this win," Jocson told the Canton Times, "then get ready for the next game."
