Extra-Inning Win by Canadians over Cats
|
The Fort Worth Cats got a superb performance from pitcher James Akehurst. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Vancouver. The Canadians won the game, 5-4. In spite of the loss, Akehurst was named the player of the game. He threw 5 innings of 4-hit ball. Vancouver reliever Hou-kang Li picked up the win, bumping his record to 2-3. Robby Guzman was collared with the loss. The Canadians bumped their record to 79-75 with this latest triumph.
The Canadians got a big at-bat from catcher Kiemon Matsunaga. For the game, Matsunaga went 4 for 7 with 4 singles. In the top of the 13th, with the bases loaded, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 54th hit of the season gave Vancouver a 3-2 lead.
"I just try to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Matsunaga.
