The Fort Worth Cats defeated the Coronado Phantoms, 4-3. Earning player of the game honors was shortstop Haruki Yoshino, who went 2-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Bobby Saxon converted his 41st save in 47 tries. The Cats bumped their record to 80-72 with this latest triumph.
Yoshino contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Fort Worth in the bottom of the fifth. With his team trailing 3-2, Yoshino took a fastball from Enrique Galván and stroked the home run to center. His 12th home run of the season allowed the Cats to leap in front, 4-3.
"It feels good to get this one," Yoshino told the Fort Worth Today.
