Kodiaks Win at Astoria, 6-2
|
Calgary right-hander Juan Ventura made an effective start against the Astoria Argonauts at Golden Fleece Park, leading his team to a 6-2 win. Ventura, now 2-1, was the winner. In 5.1 innings, he gave up 1 hit, while striking out 5, walking 9, and allowing 2 earned runs. Calgary is last in the Darryl Kile League Cito Gaston League with a record of 68-82.
The Kodiaks got a big at-bat from designated hitter Yoshiro Allen. For the game, Allen went 1-4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. In the top of the first, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 12th home run of the season gave Calgary a 2-0 lead.
"It feels good to get this one," Allen told the Calgary News.
