Caterpillars Prevail, 7-6, Over Bronx
|
Bronx second baseman Jim Willard had a good game, even if his team did not. The Bombers dropped a 7-6 decision to Peoria at Excavatar Park. Willard went 4-5 with a home run, a triple, and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times. Peoria reliever Freddy Aguilar picked up the win to move to 5-3. Carl Tyler suffered the loss. The Caterpillars, at 73-78, sit in 5th place in the Darryl Kile League Cito Gaston League.
Danny Sanchez aided the Peoria cause with a 2-run single in the bottom of the seventh. For the game, the left fielder was 2 for 4 with 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
"Good pitching stops good hitting," said Sanchez. "And vice-versa."
