Sasquatch Lose to Rhinos, 5-2
|
Rubber City starter Vincent Vickers pitched effectively against the Seattle Sasquatch at The Rubber Grounds. The right-hander led his team to a 5-2 win. In 7.1 innings, Vickers surrendered 9 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 0. He allowed 2 runs. Shinzo Sasaki recorded the save for Rubber City, his 11th of the season.
Pedro Martínez, who is tied for 4th in the RCL in RBI with 28, aided the Rubber City cause with a 2-run single in the bottom of the third. For the game, the designated hitter went 2 for 4 with 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs.
"We'll savor this win," Vickers told the Rubber City Chronicle, "then get ready for the next game."
The win brings the Rhinos to 20-12, a promising start as the team looks to return to the playoffs.
