Late Rally by Coal Miners Secures Win
|
The Indian Wells Aeropostales got a sterling performance from right fielder Pat Pittman, but the Coal Miners still prevailed, 7-5. Pittman was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He went 2-4 with a home run and a double, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Zak Osborn was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 15 of 19 save opportunities. The first-place Coal Miners, at 84-58, now lead their division by 3 games.
The Coal Miners got a big at-bat from catcher Waylon Swerdlow. For the game, Swerdlow was 2-5 with 2 singles. In the top of the ninth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 53rd hit of the season gave Antioch a 6-5 lead.
"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Swerdlow said after the game.
