The Pasadena Bumblebees got a strong performance from pitcher Kohei Hayashi, who stymied the Fairfield offense en route to a 4-2 win at The Hole. Hayashi, now 5-5, was the winner. In 9 innings, he gave up 9 hits, while striking out 4, walking 3, and allowing 2 earned runs. Pasadena is in last place in the Darryl Kile League Joe Torre Division with a record of 57-82.
The Bumblebees got a big at-bat from third baseman Jorge Mejía. For the game, Mejía went 1 for 3 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the fifth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 5th home run of the season gave Pasadena a 3-2 lead.
"I'm just happy to help the team win," Mejía told the Pasadena Daily News.
