The Bowling Green Racers and Joplin Fireballs met at The Firepit to settle a score.

The Joplin Fireballs got a stellar effort from pitcher Clay Melsom, helping Joplin score a 7-0 win over the visiting Bowling Green Racers. The Fireballs saw their win-loss record go to 64-76. At the same time, the Racers fell to 75-68.

Melsom, a native of Canada, was dealing all game. He kept Bowling Green hitters off-balance, while giving the Fireballs 8.1 quality innings. Melsom threw 127 pitches, allowing 4 hits and striking out 5.

"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Melsom said after the game.
