Racers Come Back Late to Clip Fireballs
Fans at The Firepit were not deterred by the threat of rain. They came to see their hometown Joplin Fireballs take on the Bowling Green Racers.

Carlos Molina did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Joplin Fireballs from losing, 9-8, to the Bowling Green Racers at The Firepit. Molina went 2-4 with a triple and a walk. He drove in 5 runs and scored once. The winner was Bowling Green reliever Brian Reddin, now 4-4. The loser was Tomoyuki Kiyomizu.

The Racers got a big at-bat from pinch hitter Griffin Roberge. For the game, Roberge was 1 for 1 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the top of the ninth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 4th home run of the season gave Bowling Green a 9-8 lead.

"The boys were really swinging the bats today," winning manager Walt Dobson said.

The Racers bumped their record to 75-67 with this latest triumph.
