Multi-HR Day for Schäfer as Coal Miners Overpower Phantoms, 7-3
|
The Antioch Coal Miners relied on the hitting of second baseman Roger Schäfer to stop the Coronado Phantoms, 7-3. For the game, Schäfer hit 2 home runs. He scored 3 runs and drove in 4. Adam Pitkeathy picked up the win with 7 innings of work. He allowed 3 earned runs on 6 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 4. On the season, he is now 8-9. Antioch goes to 82-58. Schäfer had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the seventh. On a first pitch slider from Roberto Mejía, he banged a 2-run home run to left, giving the Coal Miners a 5-3 lead. It was the 5th home run of the year for Schäfer.
