Racers Lose, 2-1, at The Firepit
The Firepit was the site of a competitive game between the Bowling Green Racers and Joplin Fireballs.

Pitcher Carlos Mendoza was sensational for the Joplin Fireballs in his team's 2-1 triumph over the Bowling Green Racers. Mendoza received player of the game honors, while picking up the win. Tomoyuki Kiyomizu was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 19 of 23 save opportunities.

The Fireballs got a big at-bat from right fielder Takashi Tsuruta. For the game, Tsuruta was 1-3 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the second, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 21st home run of the season gave Joplin a 2-0 lead.

"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Mendoza.

Joplin now has a 3-game win streak.
