The Antioch Coal Miners dealt the Coronado Phantoms a 7-2 loss at The Coal Mine. Scott McFarland was the star on offense. He went 3 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. The Coal Miners bumped their record to 81-58 with this latest triumph.
Antioch grabbed the momentum in the bottom of the fifth, when McFarland, who leads the DKL in hits with 185, hit a 2-run double. His 33rd double of the season put the Coal Miners out in front, 2-0.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Antioch manager Hervé Barthélémy.
