Layne Hits 2 home runs in Blazers Win
|
Bloomington center fielder Arnold Layne had 4 ribbies while helping his team defeat the San Francisco Earthquakes, 9-1. Getting the save was Tony Gutierrez, his 1st. The Earthquakes fall to 13-18 and continue their uninspiring start to the 2033 season.
Layne contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Bloomington in the bottom of the second. With his team trailing 1-0, Layne took a cutter from Carlos Estrada and stroked the home run to left. His 7th home run of the season allowed the Blazers to leap in front, 3-1.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Bloomington manager Javier Ramírez.
