Marauders Come Back Late, Nip Pioneers
"The Fort" at B.C. Place was the site of a competitive game between the Vancouver Pioneers and Maple Marauders.

The Maple Marauders took Vancouver pitcher John Bunce's best shot and still were able to claim a win at "The Fort" at B.C. Place. The final score had Maple getting past the Pioneers, 2-1. Bunce went 6 innings and allowed no earned runs, striking out 5. Maple reliever Hariz Sahir was credited with the win, to go to 1-0. Jo-hsi Sang took the loss for Vancouver.

The Marauders got a big at-bat from shortstop Alejandro Marés. For the game, Marés went 1 for 3 with a walk. In the top of the ninth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 3rd hit of the season gave Maple a 2-1 lead.

"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Marés. "And not try to do too much."

Maple, now 2-1, has played well in the early going.
