Fort Worth and Fairfield played a hard-fought contest at Durham Bulls Athletic Park.
The Fort Worth Cats did just enough to sneak past the Fairfield Flash, 3-2, at Durham Bulls Athletic Park. Fort Worth pitcher Austin Meyers earned player of the game honors. In 6 innings, Meyers surrendered 1 hit, while striking out 3 and walking 4. He allowed no runs. Bobby Saxon earned his 37th save in 42 chances.
Shumei Heida, who is tied for 5th in the NAL with a .874 OPS, aided the Fort Worth cause with a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth. For the game, the right fielder was 1 for 4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
Meyers said he was "thrilled" the fans had something to get excited about.
