The Fairfield Flash wiggled past the Fort Worth Cats, 3-2, at Durham Bulls Athletic Park. Fairfield pitcher Bernard Coste earned player of the game honors. Fairfield reliever Paul Calamy was the winner. His record is now 2-0. Bobby Saxon took the loss. Fairfield has an impressive 92-44 record.
Dan Thibodeau had a nice at-bat for the Flash with one out in the bottom of the tenth. With runners on 1st and 2nd, the first baseman drew a walk, which would prove important in the Fairfield win.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said Fort Worth skipper Lowell Wise, "and it cost us."
