The Calgary Kodiaks bested the Detroit Death Stars, 6-3, at Foothills Stadium. Sterling Hudswell was named player of the game. He went 3 for 3 with 3 singles and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Calgary reliever Michael Burman was the winner. His record is now 1-0. Patrick Charbonnier took the loss. Juan Ramírez earned his 14th save in 18 chances.
Hudswell had a game-changing single in the bottom of the sixth. On a 2-0 changeup from Patrick Charbonnier, he banged a 2-run single to center, giving the Kodiaks a 4-2 lead. It was the 54th hit of the year for Hudswell.
"We played a good game and came out on top," said Hudswell.
The last-place Kodiaks have won 5 consecutive games.
