Fans at The Firepit were not deterred by the threat of rain. They came to see their hometown Joplin Fireballs take on the Peoria Caterpillars.

Peoria Caterpillars starter Morihiro Hashimoto turned in a top-notch performance against the Joplin Fireballs at The Firepit. The result was a win for the Caterpillars, 6-1. Peoria now sits at 66-69, while Joplin falls to 59-74.

Thomas Hughes, who is tied for 2nd in the DKL in triples with 8, chipped in for Peoria with a grand slam home run in the top of the first. For the game, the shortstop had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 4 runs batted in.

"It's easier to pitch when you get run support," said Hashimoto.
